This is a substitute nursing position. All qualified candidates must hold a valid Georgia State license as an RN or LPN. Please include a copy of the license with the application). Candidates must be willing to work with children/adolescents in a school clinic setting. 

 

The compensation is $100.00 per day.

 

JOB GOAL:  To coordinate and provide school health services to students.

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal and Assistant Superintendent

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Current valid state license as a Registered Nurse (preferred). LPNs with strong work experience will be considered..
  2. Ability to work well with students, parents, and staff. 
  3. Physical demands – must be able to stand and walk the majority of the day; lift and carry twenty (20) to thirty (30) pounds frequently, and up to one hundred (100) pounds occasionally; push or pull same amounts frequently.  Job may also require frequent bending and stooping.

 

JOB DUTIES:

 

  1. Coordinate the school health care program for a designated school.
  2. Coordinate and evaluate the activities of the health care providers in a designated cluster.
  3. Report problems to Public Health Department as required by law.
  4. Collaborate with or serve as a resource person to parents, teachers, and principals concerning health education for students as they relate to school.
  5. Collaborate with staff on health education for students.
  6. Administer treatment, medications, vaccines, preventive and maintenance care to students and families.
  7. Consult with staff on health problems, feeding techniques, hygienic issues and emergency techniques such as CPR.
  8. Contact parents in need of health education relative to communicable diseases.
  9. Coordinate the meeting of medical needs of students by acting as liaison between the physician or agencies responsible for the student’s medical needs and related school personnel.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  11. Maintain documents of services rendered to students.
  12. Maintain accurate and up to date documents pertinent to health services provided to students.
  13. Attend approved training sessions, staff development activities, and required meetings.
  14. Administer the Telemedicine program at the school.
  15. Will conduct professional learning workshops such as CPR, infectious disease control, etc. with school staff.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
